Achieve 3000 Achieve 3000 is the website used to assess the grade level at which your child is reading.  Throughout the year, your child is encouraged to read two articles each week and monitor their Lexile Growth.

Your child receives this log in information at the beginning of the year and they can read articles any time.  The articles are assigned at your child's Lexile level and as they improve on their assessments the program increases their reading level.

Additionally, each student should be reading 30 minutes each night and presenting you with a reading log.  The reading log identifies their initial Lexile level and their current Lexile level.

6th grade students should have a Lexile level of:  665-1000
7th grade students should have a Lexile level of:  735-1065
8th grade students should have a Lexile level of:  805-1100

Alliance's college-reading Lexile goal for your 8th grades student is 1185.

Discovery Education This website provides videos and tutorials on just about anything your child needs to know for any class.

Your also has an account for this website.

You can sit and watch the videos with your child and encourage them to research topics outside of what they are studying in school.  This will keep them excited about learning and expose them to other ideas outside of their day-to-day instruction.

Your child can use this website to review concepts in their science class.

  • Your child can pause the video and take notes;
  • Your child can rewind the video;
  • You can help support your child in their learning by going over the concepts with them.
